Saddle Fitting Assessment

Hands to Hide Equine offers a Saddle Fitting Assessment Certification. Students will learn how to evaluate a Western saddle to determine if it is a proper fit for the horse. Includes information on saddle evaluation, rider fit, rigging, balance, and more. There is also an option to purchase the saddle fitting assessment manual without the certificate.

To be certified, the student needs to film one video evaluating three saddles. The same horse should be used for all three saddles. Students can choose to use any variation of saddles to show proper or poor fit. (Examples: three different saddles that fit properly, one saddle that fits properly and two that do not, etc.) Students need to describe why each saddle is either a proper or poor fit based on the information in the Hands to Hide Equine saddle assessment manual.

Please note that a student may be asked to redo their submission video if it does not reflect the information found in the Hands to Hide Equine saddle fitting assessment manual.

After the video has been submitted and evaluated, a certificate will be sent to the student. The certificate declares that an individual has successfully demonstrated the information found in the Hands to Hide Equine saddle fitting assessment manual under the instruction of Kristen Wilke, founder of Hands to Hide Equine. The certificate also lists the student’s name and date of achievement.

Videos can be uploaded to YouTube as long as they are marked as ‘Unlisted’. The private link can then be sent to Hands to Hide Equine for evaluation. Students may also choose to share videos via Dropbox. Videos or links can be submitted through email to: handstohide@gmail.com or info@handstohide.com.

The cancellation policy does not apply once purchase has been made for the online program. All purchases made through the website are non-refundable.  This is due to the finality of the product once purchase has been completed. For live seminars, the student is informed of the non-refundable deposit to hold their place for the clinic.  If the student is unable to attend the live seminar, they do not receive the non-refundable deposit back.

*Currently, there is no official governing or licensing body for saddle fitting schools and programs.*
